A good example of the latter was the introduction of the American College of Emergency Physicians’ emergency department of the future —called InnovateED—at its 2013 meeting in Seattle. Even better: While ACEP was just looking for InnovatED to break even, it actually made a profit in its first year. What do they consider more mundane?

Technology is not synonymous for innovation; some associations are having breakthroughs by going back to old tech. All the resources, connections and reach that associations used to have to themselves can now be found at little or no cost by anyone with a web connection. Seattle Seahawks. They don’t even need a computer.
