The North Carolina Museum of Art exhibit, American Chronicles: The Art of Norman Rockwell , i ncludes 47 years of his covers for The Saturday Evening Post plus dozens of other paintings. Norman Rockwell took me on a trip through American political and cultural history earlier this week. The exhibit whetted my appetite to learn more.

The North Carolina Bankers Association is sifting through historical records to uncover four portraits of North Carolina’s earliest governors in an effort to update an old poster and distribute 4,000 copies to local schools. The North Carolina State Archives played a huge role in helping us to do so.

I went from stunning grueling experiences—hiking 14 miles down the North Rim of the Grand Canyon, staying overnight at Phantom Ranch at the bottom, hiking 10 miles up the South Rim the next day, and more hiking in Sedona AZ (Bear Mountain was the highlight)—to the intense reality of preparing for a direct hit by Hurricane Florence.
