A group of Michigan women in the craft beverage industry hope to increase its diversity by launching a new association next month—complete with a selection of new brews. The idea for Fermenta, a new Michigan nonprofit for women involved in all alcoholic craft beverage industries, was first discussed in April. said in a news release.

Research now shows that when people use Twitter during classes, they are more engaged and learn more. Education Professor Christine Greenhow, Michigan State University, conducted a study on Twitter as a new form of literacy. It’s official! We can now stop debating the issue. The proof is in the Twitteracy (Twitter-literacy).

How the disappearance of the middle class is one of the reasons why members can't pay dues. For example, Michigan has been systematically removing elected city councils and boards and replacing them with appointed (not elected) "financial managers." How the minimum wage is stagnant and the number of working poor is now an epidemic.

Michigan State University Writing Professor Jeff Grabill would disagree with those last two anti-text thoughts. Grabill says that as with other writing genres, it’s communicative, a tool for today’s real world, fast, efficient and second nature in today’s culture of real time connectivity. Why texting?

In the introduction to this series, I talked about the need to establish regular, meaningful communication between the president-elect and the staff manager, or AE. As an example, I have a friend who is the CEO of a mid-sized Michigan association. Communication skills are also a key expectation for the CEO. The buck stops here.

Well, Lord knows I haven’t taken any journalism classes. My daughter was always going to dance and acting classes and all this stuff. And you know, she’s doing stuff for classes by zoom. It’s out of the spectacular Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn, Michigan museum. And it was sad. It was really sad. Oh, all right.
