An online Coursera course, Modern American Poetry , aka ModPo, is one of the 50 most popular MOOCs of all time. Typically, a MOOC features a course syllabus, in this case, a ten-week lesson plan with assigned reading (poems), instructor-created video content, discussion forum, peer-reviewed writing assignments, and quizzes.

Remember this as your association competes with cheap, easy-to-find educational resources a la the web. Associations should provide a platform to allow their members to share virtual resources. If you know of an expert on MOOCs, or if your association uses MOOCs, please contact me. Crowdsourcing is also key.

Interview the speaker and/or attendees and provide links to related association resources. Take advantage of their focused attention by providing additional educational resources.
