Before Connor joined NACDL in 2010, dues increased sporadically and noticeably, usually in the 10 to 15 percent range. Communicate Member Value. When a discount was applied, the member usually renewed the following year at the full rate, Connor says. The new dues model is a big success story for NADCL.

It's a small attempt to ensure the value (and what I charge for it) remains as the anchor associated with my work.

Don’t discount other reasons for the divide, though. Back in 2010, I wrote an Associations Now feature about rising generation X leaders at associations who had to get past the cultural feeling that the very idea of leadership needed to be kept at arm’s length. But we can agree on what leadership is , right?
