When Velvet Chainsaw Consulting conducted speaker research with 120 associations with research and consulting company Tagoras Inc. in 2013, we found that nearly 77 percent use a call for speakers/sessions process. There was an internal go-to process. We can convene groups of members, help them craft good goals, and shepherd them through a problem-solving process. Related: Soon it will be time for association leaders to envision the future. Often when big questions or problems came up, there were no experts we could turn to.

The Leadership ColLAB conference was an opportunity to bring professionals together around what we believe is a critical question. We structured this conference based on feedback from.orgCommunity’s fall Solutions Day participants. ENA brings objectivity to the process by using the net promoter score as a tool to measure success.

In preparation for other strategic planning processes the association conducted quantitative member surveys but found the results were not all that actionable because there continued to be so many unanswered questions. In-person events and the conference provided most of the value – which means value is episodic.
